A Commitment to Climate and Biodiversity

At Coffee Collective, we believe that bold action is needed to address the climate crisis. That’s why we planted the Collective Forest in November 2023—a key initiative to minimize the environmental impact of our activities. Spanning 21 hectares near Slagelse on Zealand, Denmark, this forest is more than just trees; it’s a vision for a sustainable future.

Biodiversity is the richness of life in all of the earth’s types of nature and habitats

Biodiversity creates resilience and mitigates natural disasters and diseases

Forests are one of the most natural and effective ways to remove CO2 from the atmosphere. By planting a diverse range of trees, we are not only offsetting emissions but also laying the groundwork for long-term ecological balance.

As the Danish-American professor Kathrine Richardson from the University of Copenhagen puts it:

“…I don’t think people are realizing: The world is going to be uninhabitable if we don’t get CO2 emissions and concentrations under control. We all understand the significant changes in living conditions between Ice Ages and non-Ice Ages. The difference in atmospheric CO2 concentration between Ice Ages and non-Ice Ages was 80 ppm (parts per million, CO2 molecules per million air molecules). Now, humans have altered the concentration by not 80 but 140 ppm.”

Why a Forest

Looking forward

The Collective Forest is just a single step in the right direction. It represents our commitment to tackling the climate crisis and fostering biodiversity in a meaningful way. By combining action with responsibility, we hope to inspire others to think about how we can all contribute to a greener, more sustainable future.
